Robie Mayhew Macauley (1919-1995) was educated at Kenyon College, Iowa State University and the University of London. During and after World War II he served as an agent for the Counter-intelligence Corps in Europe and Japan. Some of the material for his short stories was based on his experience in intelligence work.
